About Capri

The swish island of Capri is a rugged, mountainous idyll that dramatically rises out of the warm sapphire seas on the southern side of the Gulf of Naples. Known for its fabled beauty and hedonistic charm, this glamorous, chic playground has captivated everyone from Roman emperors to Hollywood glitterati.

As well as its mythical charm it's Capri's natural treasures that draw people in. The luminescence of the magical Blue Grotto. The striking Faraglioni rocks. The Marina Piccola (little harbour). And of course, the spectacular views - best absorbed from Monte Solaro, which luckily can be reached by chairlift.

Capri has been a resort since Augustus converted it into his private hedonistic paradise. Tiberius built a collection of villas here, but his famous pleasure palace, Villa Jovis, is one of the best-preserved Roman villas in Italy. The charming church of San Michele, with its beautiful tiled floor, and Palazzo al Mare also add to the magical spell.
