If you associate Hawaii with flower garlands, grass-skirted hula dancers, fabulous beaches and spectacular volcanic scenery, a call at the capital and main Hawaiian cruise port, Honolulu, will more than live up to your expectations.

With its alfresco, whitewashed shopping malls, elegant hotels and magnificent Waikiki Bay, this city is hedonism personified. You can spend a perfect day ashore browsing the designer boutiques and enjoying a lazy lunch in a waterfront hotel garden before retiring to the soft sands and warm waves that surround the island.

And if that is not enough, there are plenty of other things to do - including tours to historic Pearl Harbour or lovely Waimea Falls Park, where you can watch daredevil locals diving from the towering cliffs which surround the spectacular waterfall into the churning waters below.

If you are feeling daring yourself, you can also take a flight over the island's stunning volcanic scenery in a helicopter or a light plane.

Atlantis Submarine and Waikiki on Your Own

Climb aboard an Atlantis Submarine, one of the world’s largest hi-tech passenger submarines.

Your adventure begins with a brief transfer from the ship to Waikiki’s Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Atlantis Pier. Here, you’ll board the Atlantis transfer vessel for a 15-minute boat ride, featuring scenic views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. Upon arrival at the Atlantis dive site, you’ll transfer to the submarine for your underwater journey.

Being in a submarine and descending to over 100 feet underwater is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and to add to this unforgettable experience, just imagine the extensive marine life you will see up close. The Atlantis Waikiki dive site is home to amazing and colourful Hawaiian fish and coral and you may also spot one of the local turtles.

Known for its quality and safety, the Atlantis Submarine is an eye-opening experience allowing you to learn about coral, reefs, marine life and submersibles while visiting sunken shipwrecks, an aeroplane and other artificial reefs. Your friendly crew will share their love of the ocean with you.

After your submarine adventure, enjoy 2 hours of free time in Waikiki to explore independently before re boarding your transportation back to the ship.

Essential information

This excursion will operate by trolley, boat and submarine. Passengers are advised to wear comfortable clothes and flat, non-slip shoes for boat transfers and navigating the submarine ladder. This tour is suitable for adults and children at least 36 inches in height. Passengers must be able to safely negotiate a nearly vertical 12-step ladder into and out of the submarine

Diamond Head Crater Trek

Trek to the summit of one of the most famous craters on Earth, affording you incredible 360 degree views of Waikiki.

This exciting and fun hike takes you to the top of the world-famous Diamond Head Crater. Your guide will share the history of this volcanic crater and its impact on Hawaiian history.

You’ll be escorted on a 45 minute walk that ascends to the 763 foot summit. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to stop at several vantage points to rest and capture the magnificent crater on camera. Walking up stairways, entering a dark 200 foot tunnel and climbing a spiral staircase, will awaken all your sense of adventure.

Once you reach the summit, you’ll be met by incredible 360 degree panoramic views of Waikiki Beach, the emerald green mountains and the sparkling aquamarine water of the Pacific Ocean below. Afterwards, you’ll be slowly escorted back down to the crater floor.

The excursion lasts approximately 3 hours and is a truly memorable experience. Before leaving, you’ll be presented with a Certificate of Achievement, stating that you successfully made it to the famous summit of Diamond Head Crater!

Essential information

This excursion will operate by minibus and on foot. Children under 8 cannot participate. Trail length is approximately a 1½ mile round trip. Participants have to walk comfortably uphill on uneven, but maintained, trails to an elevation change of 561 feet. There are 2 steep concrete stairways of 74 steps and 99 steps separated by a passage through a light 225 foot long narrow tunnel and exit to the exterior of the crater is through a narrow passageway. Please wear comfortable walking shoes (tennis shoes). The trail is not shaded, please wear sun protection, hats and bring water.

Honolulu by Helicopter

Experience Honolulu from a totally different angle on this thrilling helicopter ride.

This is a fantastic introduction to Honolulu’s superb landscape by helicopter. You’ll marvel at the beautiful sandy white beaches and take in the highlights from your tremendous aerial viewpoint.

Witness amazing views of the placid Keehi Lagoon and historic Honolulu Harbour. Here you will view Aloha Tower, once the tallest structure on the island. See downtown Honolulu, featuring the only royal palace in the country. Above the city stands the Punchbowl, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Your flight continues above Ala Moana Beach Park, Magic Island, the Ala Wai Yacht Harbour and Waikiki Beach. Beyond, you'll see Diamond Head Crater from a dramatic perspective, the Gold Coast, where millionaires make their homes and spectacular Hanauma Bay.

Rounding to the east end of the island, you'll witness the rugged coastline, Sandy Beach, Makapuu Point and the lighthouse. Your splendid aerial adventure continues over Sea Life Park, the estate where TV's, ‘Magnum P.I’, was filmed and miles of white sandy beach . You'll be treated to a stunning view of Mount Olomana and the Nuuanu Pali, where King Kamehameha's warriors won a decisive battle to unite the islands.

Your tour concludes with a great view of Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial and the Battleship Missouri

Majestic Sunset Dinner Cruise

Take in the beautiful sunset while dining on a relaxing cruise that travels along Oahu’s famed Waikiki coastline. This cruise experience is nothing short of sophisticated aboard the yacht-like vessel, the Majestic. Measuring 150 feet, Majestic’s sleek, modern design hosts three large decks offering a variety of settings for your comfort. These two levels are lined with large panoramic windows, perfect for soaking up the spectacular scenery. The top level is an open-air deck, allowing guests to take in the cool, ocean breeze and snap photos from every angle.

Monarchs and Missionaries, Hawaii’s Royal History

This delightful tour takes you on a journey back in time to discover Hawaii’s national historic treasures.

Sit back and enjoy the lush surroundings of the Nuuanu Valley, as you head to the Nuuanu Pali Lookout, where a short stop will be made for you to admire the spectacular views. It was here that one of the most important battles in Hawaiian history took place and where Kamehameha I conquered the island of Oahu, bringing it under his rule.

Just a short drive away is the location of Hawaii's sacred Royal Mausoleum, Mauna'ala, the final resting place of 6 of the kingdom's last 8 ruling monarchs. Admire the gothic architecture of the Mausoleum and take time to absorb the peace and tranquillity.

Your royal history journey would not be complete without a visit to the Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives, to understand the role that the Christian Missionaries played in shaping the islands. The site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965. Here, you’ll visit 3 restored houses, 2 of which are the oldest houses in Hawaii. You’ll also learn about the research archives, which provide a unique glimpse into 19th century Hawaii.

It’s then onto the glorious Iolani Palace, the only official state residence of royalty in the United States and the official residence of the Hawaiian Kingdom's last 2 monarchs. The Palace has been lovingly restored over the years and an audio guided tour will bring its history alive. During your visit, you’ll also see the legendary King Kamehameha's statue and the unique Kawaiahao Church, often referred to the Westminster Abbey of Hawaii.
